On our way back from Trespassing, Emma and I passed a small parking lot with some truck trailers, dumpsters, random garbage, and the like. We briefly contemplated climbing one of the trailers, but decided that the lack of handholds presented a problem. Also, we felt like getting back to our respective homes.

However, not one to be so easily dissuaded by something as minor as no handholds better than a door hinge, I set back out the following night. It turns out we had merely been considering the problem from the wrong perspective: rather than climbing a trailer, I realized the problem was to climb the set of trailers. With my back to one trailer, the hinges of the adjacent one were perfectly sufficient.

The result was a relatively easy climb. I snapped a couple pictures before wandering around on top a little bit. Or so I throught -- the tops of the trailers are remarkably flimsy things, and when I realized this I decided not to see how much they would support. So I sat on top of one of them for a minute or two and took a couple more pictures before climbing down.

Target

When originally considering the problem, we were thinking about the lone trailer in the back (we were approaching from the other side, so it was the closest one).
Climbing 1

The basic technique: lean back against one trailer, using the hinges of the other as steps.

Indeed I did :)
It was surprisingly easy once I figured out the trick. Give it a try next time you're around!
