Automation Part 1 by Fortune Monkey

July 4th, 2006 1:57 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: For each hour of the day, document at least one automatic operation that is being performed for your benefit.

ok, so first I started making a list then I went to class and forgot about it but then a few days letter I remembered...and well as it turns out most of my days are pretty routine, so I went with what I had started. There is a picture of the list. Taa-daa. But then I thought wait its like summer break now, so my days are going to change slightly, so here is a list of the first 24(that's how any hours there are in a day!) DIFFERENT automated things that were performed for my benefit today. :) well that I noticed....I was probably oblivious to like 6bazillion other things that are really automatic...also a lot of things happened over and over again throughout the day.

List:
1. Alarm rang, hit snooze x3
2. Flushed toilet (direction of handle controlled quantity of water let in), toilet refilled
3. Turned on sink - water came out, water drained
4. Pushed button with picture of toast on microwave - made toast
5. Woke up computer, checked E-mail, etc...
6. Checked time on watch (watch kept time all on its own for me)
7. ipod shuffled and played songs
8. waited for crossing light to turn green (sensor detected me before I got to the cross walk, so I didn't have to push the button)
*I did this several more times on my way to school, usually without being detected or without a button to push
9. Push buttony thing on headphones - cord retracts into earpiece
10. Use tea machine - hot water dispenser to rinse mug, cold-water dispenser to rehydrate, then tea button. yay!
11. Bell rings over intercom or whatever - noting start of morning meeting (the bell will ring several more times during the day)
12. pushed switch in classroom - lights came on
13. Enjoyed air-con in English teachers office (will do this several more times during the day)
14. used button on hot water machine to make hot water dispense on tea bag
15. Used microphone and cassette recorder to record oral exam (listed to recording over speakers)
16. Exchanged money for lunch ticket via lunch ticket machine
17. Washed lunch tray in automatic sprayer thingy
18. Pressed thing under chair to raise seat
19. used printer to print out findings from internet query
20. photocopied exams
21. (flushed toilet) waved hand in front of sensor to make water come out of sink
22. Supervised kids during cleaning time - floor near desk was cleaned with vacuum
23. flicked on power strip (internet automatically connected)
24. pressed button on washing machine (automatically judged quantity of water needed and washed clothes)

- smaller
