Fight the Future by teh Lolbrarian

This is an ideal procrastination task for the end of the semester.

While normally quite useful to time travelers, the sonic screwdriver was not much help in this task. Nonetheless, I managed to destroy my cheap Ikea clock. It was not meeting my horological needs, for it was difficult to set and made creepy ticking noises which could be heard even from the storage closet to which it had been banished.
First I needed a Fight the Future soundtrack!

Then I needed some real tools, since the sonic screwdriver just wasn't cutting it.
(where the hell is my hammer? I should figure that out later. I'll have plenty of time now that this pesky clock is destroyed!)
Front of boring Ikea clock:

Back:

I cannot accurately document this, but please note that this thing smells overwhelmingly of cheap (yet surprisingly resilient!) plastic.
A ruler and some judiciously-applied force sufficed to pry out the battery.

Then I proceeded to actual clock destruction. A regular flathead screwdriver proved to be the right tool for this job. Soon I had the box holding the clockwork removed.

A spoke sticking out of the box (attached to a gear, I later determined) was holding the hands in place. I heard a rattle as the hands came free and voila! I was free of time! It is now OMGWTF o'clock!

With some more screwdriver action, I was able to pry the back off the clock, thus allowing further disassembly, resulting in...
Clock hands with no face!

A clock face with no hands!

And many Dali-esque possibilities.

Ikea wisely made the back of this sticky-- now I can stick it to the wall and enjoy my freedom from the shackles of linear time.

Destructon proceeded apace-- my trusty screwdriver allowed me to prise this box open and get at the clockwork.

Ooh, a magnet! It's fun to dangle things.

This copper wire is also pretty nfity.

But soon my job was done. The clock is quite destroyed. Anyone need some cheap plastic clockwork? Some assembly required...
