Escape to the Camera by chaos shard

August 19th, 2008 9:31 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Set up a camera looking away from you.

Set the timer, and run into the frame.

This one took almost no preparation, but was harder than it looked at first to actually pull off. I recently married my "primary minion" (as in three days ago, this task was completed on our honeymoon). I also recently bought a new camera, with a modified timer function. The new timer has a charming little tone that indicates when the picture is being taken, so I figured it'd be pretty easy to get into the shot. Not so much, actually. To be far enough away to get out of the shot, I had to be pretty much out of earshot, so I had to guess a lot. Most of the attempts had either me or my husband out of the shot because we missed the timing.

For some reason I decided this task would look better with someone already in the shot. I decided to do this during sparring practice because I thought it'd be cool. We're using shinai, or bamboo swords, which are great for practicing sword fighting without injuring your opponent much. Anyway, they're bamboo swords and we were practicing, and using the camera's timer to take pics for the fun of it... I decided I might as well do that task and here we go. I picked the two most successful shots. By successful I mean both the stationary target and the "escaping" person are in the shot and there's some indication I was actually outside the shot when the timer went off.

attack 1

This is the first successful shot. I like it because of the look on Alan's face.

attack 2

attack 2

This is the second successful attempt. It was just kind of fun because his back was to me when I dove into the shot.
