Nice To Meet You by miss understanding

December 11th, 2007 6:52 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Carry a sealed greeting card with a pre-written message on it, like "nice to meet you." Give the sealed card to someone in a situation appropriate to its message.

I bought my card on November 9th and after giving it some thought wrote inside of it....

To whomever has made me laugh,

Thank you very much.

No matter what is going on in my life, laughter has the ability
to lighten the load and make the world seem just a bit brighter.

Thank you for brightening my day.

It was a pleasure to meet you, however brief our meeting may be.

I am surprised I carried the card around for a month as I consider myself someone who is easily amused. I didn't realize how rare it is that someone I don't know makes me laugh and shares a warm moment with me. This morning I was fortunate enough to meet someone I felt the card should be given to. I went to the local coffee shop this morning at an hour I haven't seen in a very long time to get some chai and prepare for a morning of errand running. While taking my order, the guy at the counter informed me that a local radio station was there and was giving away prizes to anyone who walked up and said "what's all the brew ha-ha about?" I looked around and found their table, which wasn't hard to do, and walked over and asked the woman sitting there what all the brew ha-ha was about. For a second she looked at me as though I was crazy and then handed me a bumper sticker, and coffee card and then said I could pick out a cd and asked my t-shirt size. I found this entire exchange to be quite amusing and am still giggling about it now. The guy at the counter, Chris, said he didn't realize that the "winners" got all of that stuff and we had a laugh about the amazing t-shirt I got. I thought of the card that had been waiting in my purse for the past month and knew Chris was the person to give it to. My prize winning morning brightened my day and will most certainly provide me with laughter past this morning. He was a good sport and let me take his picture, although it was only after I reassured him that he would not find himself on some weird questionable website. After taking his picture I wrote his name on the card as well as the sf0 web address in the corner of the envelope. I hope I made his morning as much as he made mine.

I ended up getting a sweet parking spot right behind the station's van.

...and the booty I couldn't have won without him.

Who doesn't need yet another hideous cheap tee shirt and a bumper sticker they will never use? I have yet to listen to the cd.
