INSTRUCTIONS: Build or make something you don't need. Give it away.

Something to make. Something to give away. And something that I personally do not need. I found the answer to all of these requirements, surprisingly easy: a Best Friend.

Now, while even I require a best friend, the one that I currently have has developed a very close, and only mildly abusive reslationship with me already, and both of us have learned to be content with that. So I set out to create a Best Friend for someone.

And now the fun begins!!!

Why I had so much fun, I decided to make TWO Best Friends

NEW BEST FRIENDS!

Now to seal the deal

Although the task directions say to 'give' my wonderful creations away, durring the time that we spent together, my Best Friends started to seem like real people, and what with me being their creator and all, I felt that deciding their futures for them would be a little cliché. So instead of pawning them off to strangers like garbage, I decided that I would place them in different playgrounds and let fate take over.

NOTE: The weather here in Portland Oregon isn't always the most agreeable, so to avoid damaging or even ruining the Best Friends, before they could even be found, I covered them in clear plastic bags so as to keep them dry without deducting from their charm and apeal.

The First Playground: Freepons Park

I place the first Best Friend and say a fond fairwell

The Second Playground: Hallinan Elementary School playstructure
Now origionally I had planned on walking from the first playground to the sencond, considering they're only about three blocks away from one another, however I quickly discovered that it is in fact impossible to look inconspicous while carrying a child-sized human cut-out inside of a garbage bag, while in the vicinity of an elemantary school. So unfortunatly I had to drive between the two.

I found a good location for the second Best Friend

However, just before leaving I came up with a better place for him

Now the question that remains is what happened to my Best Friends?
Were they taken by punk middle schoolers who would defile them with crued writings and drawings?
Possibly.
Were they taken by a concerned parent or neighbor who would report them to the police as instances of littering and/or advertisments of child prostitution?
Possibly.
Or were they found by truly caring and considerate children. Ones who would clutch to them like they would a beloved blanket or stuffed animal. Who would play with them, and care for them, and even love them in that strange nїeve way that only children who are un-scarred by the harsh realities of the world can....

or were they taken by concerned parents who are kind of creeped out by any representation of small childlike figures in a playground smothered in plastic bags?

hey, what the heck, it's pretty awesome either way.

yea, the chances that they were recieved by people who are actually worthy of such fantastic creations is slim... but I like to dream.
