Disobedient Nature by Morse Kode, Sexy Hat, Tyler

May 13th, 2008 2:15 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Search for, find, document an example of nature refusing to yield to or blending itself into a construction of modern man.

Document with photos when possible.

Examples should document situations where man has put up some restraint for nature and nature has disobeyed. While trees or other permanent plants are preferable, a basic example would be plants that grow in the cracks of the sidewalk.

Here at The Catlin Gabel School, we love our trees
catlinglogo0653169.jpg
They constantly preech to us about conserving energy and saving the enviroment. We have an entire Outdoors program with clubs and planned events so that high school students can experience nature at it's finest, as well as an entire maintenance crew to... well... matain our campus (which used to be a farm mind you).

They once even used manual labor on campus as a means of punishment for students who were frequently tardy. (This ceased after they rented a heard of Goats to clear blackberry bushes, which cut back significantly on the need for free labor from minors, as well as eliniating the need for pesticides!) It pretty much seems as though as a school, we live in pretty good harmony with nature...

However, we as students of this magnificant school began to wonder if and how this could be entirely true. At some point in time the balance could not have been so perfect, and we started to question what secrets our tree riden campus held.

The answers to this questioning appeared to us on Campus Day (An entire day dedicated to unpaid student labor)...
For alas, gaurded by the matinance building. Hark! the victorious cries of nature, overuling us bipedal humans!

Was it a class room? a storage area? a meeting place for the Dead Poets Sociecty? The likes of humans may never know, for the likes of nature may never tell us....
