INSTRUCTIONS: The first task reads: "Take a picture of yourself. " This is the only time a sous rature gesture will be made, so let us remind you: you may be your character, but your character need not be you.

Right, I have a small problem... At the end of the last era I signed up for 10 great tasks. Unfortunately that now leaves me no room to start tasking this era. I COULD just drop a task, but I have PLANS! I COULD Just churn a few of them out in a lack-luster manner, but that would be FAIL, and I'm aiming for Awesome here.

Also, I'm left with the sneaking suspicion that I will always have several long to very long tasks on the boil... Thus I have decided to follow the shining example set by our friends the ameobas and simply... divide myself. This has several pluses. For one, I have decided that my two personas will have quite different drives. Mr Everyday will complete ONE TASK EACH DAY for the remainder of this era. Note that these will not neccessarily be POSTED every day, as I won't always be around a suitable computer, but one WILL be completed every day.

Not all of these tasks will be current, in fact I would suspect that the greater part will be zero-level completes of either retired, or pre-tired tasks. There are a LOT of neat tasks out there. Now, the downside of this is that the level of WIN will be lower, as time constraints prevent any great preperation.

My REGULAR PERSONA will continue to take his sweet time about the completion of HIS tasks, and endevor to set new standards of WIN whenever possible.

I rather suspect that SOMETIMES both personas will complete the same task in radically different ways... I have often struggled with deciding in which of two ways I want to complete a task most - now I don't have to.

Lest I be accused of sock-puppetry, I hereby VOW that neither persona will vote for any task of the other, or complete any given task in a markedly similar manner. BOTH personas will try to the best of their abilities to play the game in the spirit in which it was intended, even if the individual instantiations of that spirit are different in both cases...

This is my first task, completed by me on (My) 25th September 2008, watch this space for daily completes, and remember, this IS EVERYDAY LIFE!!!

Curious strategy. I'm keen to see how this works out.

Whoa, one a day?! I certainly look forward to the treat, but might I suggest you take it easy? Beware tasking burnout.
Some say Charlie Fish and Harry-who-ever-his-name-is-now were bitten by it...

I'll certainly look out for it, but most of these will be shortish tasks... Don't expect the same level of thought from Mr Everyday as you would for Absurdum... It's the thinking that really takes it out of you.

I'm really intrigued, and I look forward to watching this unfold.

I was thinking of making a Club Task-A-Week group at one point. . . but I chickened out, 'cause one task per week just seemed overwhelming.

But now, Loki, how else can we vote?

Todays task is a Zero level complete of Part-time-Writer-Full-time-Waitress. Not a difficult task, but one I never got around to zero-leveling last era, though I thought about it off and on.

Today's task is a Zero Level complete of the task Masquerade. Dedicated with the greatest respect to Suzy Derkins.

I ´d vote here if I had any votes left :(
It worries that Mr. Everyday has a big handicap on top of the vote rationing. Can´t play for points if levelzeroing, votes are much harder to get that way too as levelzeroed tasks are much less visible and... well, I guess you know why you´re doing it :)
There is always playing for favs.
It just occurred to me that at the end of the Era this place is a little like CalvinBall...

Perhaps, but without the flags and buckets of flour.

The built in disadvantage was actually something I created with malice aforethought. I figured that this way it would look less like sock-puppetry for points and more like a valid strategy. Neither of my persona are going for points and level per se. Absurdum will be trying for some high scores if possible, Mr Everyday will just be trying for volume. Of course that volume might eventually add up to points...

Something else I hadn't anticipated it that for current era tasks, Mr everyday serves as a good dry run. Plus, the more base points I get (from both persona completing the same task in 2 different ways) add to the vote economy.

As an aside, I have been using my votes as soon as possible so far rather than saving them. The way I see it that allows the players I give them to to use the votes they get as a result... Of course the downside is that I can only give away a few points at a time... Ah well.

Today's task is a zero level complete ofRenew-An-Old-Correspondence. The thing I'm starting to notice and like about this every day thing is that it makes me get off my arse and do things I've been meaning to for a while - because now there's a reason to do them.

Today's task is a zero level complete of Language-Encryption. I'm afraid it's very close to another complete - I swear I didn't notice til afterwards.

Today's task is a zero level complete of Homonym-Pictures. Nothing too clever. I was going to do "Pea, pie and Spud" but I couldn't get ahold of my friends Spud...

Today's task (though I'm late writing it up) is a zero level complete of Dogmatics-101-Know-Why. A task that was made easier for me by the fact I actually studied Dogmatics (and skepticism) 101 back when I was a philosopher. Also, I do this task every so often anyway.

Today I Zero Leveled "Birdnesting". Unfortunately Mr Everyday can't interact with that task sooo.... Here it is here. All images are amoungst this task's photos above.

So, I was walking along, quite innocently, while waiting to do another task, when I was given A SIGN!!! Sitting right there, on a branch near the track, was a single perfectly formed egg, glowing jewel-like in the gloom. The branch was 2 or 3 meters below the nearest other branch, so it can't have fallen. There were no nearby nests. So, How did it get there?

Anyway, I took this as a sign to go birdnesting. The season for it is JUST starting. This meant that the first hour or so I found 30 or 40 nests, but no eggs. Now, finding the nests is harder than you would think, and the finding and climbing is most of the fun, so I wasn't too discouraged. In fact, It would be almost as much fun in the off season to collect the nests of the previous season (which are typically not reused). The nests themselves are facinating objects.

After an hour or so I found my first egged nest. I wouldn't have seen it except that the mother bird got nervous and flew off as I passed. A hint for birdnesters. If you're walking through the woods, and a bird takes off suddenly directly away from you, they probably left a nest. As I said, the season had just started, as there were only 3 eggs in the nest. A bird keeps laying until there are 4 or 5 in the nest, so 3 is a good sign that they will be fresh for blowing and not full of bird fetus.

Another tip is this - always leave one egg behind. A bird will usually return to the egg rather than abandoning the nest, and will keep laying until the number of eggs hits 4 or 5. You can actually get 10 or 15 eggs from a bird if you keep taking an egg every day. Leaving this last egg means that the bird will still produce a full compliment of chicks.

In the last part of my serch I found one more nest, this time with 2 eggs. NEXT week will be prime birdnesting, I rather suspect I will go somewhere else and try my luck again...
