Fear Factor by aaron rhodes

June 16th, 2006 3:27 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Do something that scares you. If you are scared of spiders? pick a few up and make them pets for a day; heights? go to the golden gate bridge and look over and down for a few minutes; ghosts? spend some time in a graveyard ; dark? record audio of your experience in realtime. Bonus points for overcoming a phobia.

This task should be kept a minimum of 1 to 2 players, since the whole "safety in numbers" thing might dampen the fear factor in the task.

As usual, creativity in documentation is imperative.

I am afraid of heights. I went to Sydney Australia recently and climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge. It was some 300 meters high or something. Who knows about those metric numbers?
I was real nervous in doing it, but I got over it soon enough. On the actual railing of the bridge I felt safe and fine, but there is a point when you are walking on a catwalk under the bridge that is a bit scary. You are on a catwalk with nothing but earth and air below you.

the bridge of death!

This is obviously not me, but they don;t let one take anything on the bridge for fear they may drop it onto the traffic below.

When I was in Australia I wanted to do this, but I was outraged that you have to pay money and wear safety gear! People always climbed it, they just decided to make money. So I didn't do it. It's a pretty cool thing to have done. Good on ya mate!
