INSTRUCTIONS: Photograph a most normal, pedestrian view of the world around you. Crop the photo down to a distinct and beautiful vision. Show us the difference.

I saw this task and immediately went on a quest around my house taking pictures that were as pedestrian as I could imagine--Things that I see and use every day and never really look at. Then I began cropping.

I discovered that perhaps I might be adding a tiny bit too much salt to my aquarium when I learned that the little bit of grime along the top was actually crystalline. I then learned that my Ikea lamp had a painting of tulips inside. I also found out that my roommate had something beautiful hiding on her shelf in the fridge, and I found beauty in the washing machine AND the dish cupboard. Then I discovered abstract art in the shower in two forms.

Wow. I had no idea so much beauty was hidden around me! My eyes have definitely been opened.

My favorites (though the others below were also much to my liking):

Impressionist art?A standard table lamp.

I particularly like the washing machine and the faucet images.

I do have a weakness for cool images of glass.
