Work is So Strange by Narg Talia

I work at a corporate sandwich shop chain in center city of Philadelphia. It's typically kind of a weird job because a lot of weird people work there and its just a bizarre kind of concept for Philadelphia. I work as a "driver" meaning I deliver sandwiches via bicycle. I am often the closing driver and for long periods of time it's just me and the shift supervisor working while waiting to close. It gets incredibly slow at night so all we have to do is talk.
I never got a long real well with one of the managers I work with on weekends. We have a few things in common but he's overly hard on me for no real reason and he doesn't really talk to me until all the other employees leave and even then it's sparingly. During the slower moments in the shop he'll usually surf the web and I'll look over his shoulder and comment on what he's doing. I've seen him on dating sites before, which was mind boggling because he's incredibly hot and charming. At least when he's not being a douche. So I talked to him about what he was looking for these days and what these sites had offered him thus far. I'm a few years older than him and I am well versed in online dating and the practice of "casual sex." He mentioned he used to have a thing for a girl we worked with that never panned out so I asked if he ever slept with anyone he worked with and he said no. I told him some stories about old jobs I used to have and gave him some dating advice. He also said he would like to hang out because I "seemed like a person who would hang out with people he could hook up with." Probably true. I have been under the impression that this guy kind of hated me, a lot. More than the average person would dislike me. As I was standing at the sink washing dishes, he says "so...if you're ever bored and horny you should give me a call" and walked away leaving me quite flabbergasted. I nearly fell down laughing I was so surprised and taken aback. I decided to give him my number at the end of my shift, perhaps subconsciously because I was attracted to him, but I rationalized it that he was a good kid and would be cool to hang out with and maybe set him up with my friends. It was extremely unexpected on all fronts because I didn't think this guy even remotely liked me as a person. He called soon after and somehow, out of all of that, in a weeks time we were somehow in love. Something I found to be so painfully absurd and random I may have found the love of my life who sings me songs in the mornings and shares cigarettes with me while talking about art and our goals. I hated my job, and all things leading to me being there but this one moment where a guy forgets he's my boss and is just a dude shows me why it all is. and I love him. That's the weirdest and consequently the most wonderful that has happened at my work in the past week.
