INSTRUCTIONS: Make a sundial. Use it!

My Sundial

My Sundial

Ta Da! Apparently my text isn't working either, this happened with Laura (lonelocust) too. I'm using the pictures to give my comments until the glitch is fixed.

Sundial 2

Sundial 2

This sundial was made only using materials found at the beach.

6 AM mound

6 AM mound

This mound is found at the end of an arm of my sundial. When the shadow from the log is casted over this arm it should be 6 am.

9 AM mound

9 AM mound

This is like the 6 am mound. It has 9 stones around it to tell which hour it represents.

9 PM mound

9 PM mound

Like the 6 and 9 am mounds. There are more mounds but the photos take so long to upload because of Australia's crappy internet services (at my Dad's house we only get it at 46kb/s!).

The note

The note

If you don't want to try to/can't read it, it says "This sundial donated by SfØ.org"

very cool, like "Goldsworthian" use of available materials. so did you use it? is it still there and did you test it against the sun?

I´d like to see an update on the "use it" part...
Did you spent the entire day at the beach? What time does the sun sets this time of the year?

Still standin'

I'm working on fine tuning it. It is, in fact, still there and I'll be visiting the beach tomorrow.
It's summer here at the moment so, although the sun sets late and rises early, it's blocked by the Nut (see web map task) in the morning and the green hills in the evening. The sun sets completely at about 8-9ish (the 9pm marker marks the direction the sun is in at 9; there's no shadow then, just indirect light).

Hurray for another group of non-sf beach dwelling players.

Vote for beach material usage.
