This family is moving cross-country, away from the Bay and her calm Pacific and into the harder frontier of the Rocky Mountains. It is a long journey, fraught with all manner of mishap and danger. Out of pocket and bereft of credit, we came to rest in a sheltering harbor with the dubious name "The Lady Luck."

It was very late in the evening, some might even say the early morn. Also, traveling with children is hard, but traveling with cats even more so. It truly was a boon to us that this Lady of Fortune smiled also upon the smaller creatures, for a nominal fee.

One amongst our party having never used the newfangled slot machines employed in the adjoining den of sin, we adjourned to avail ourselves of the sparkly lighting and a cheap cocktail.
