Your Phobia by pink
May 24th, 2007 3:26 PM
I am completely, irrationally, afraid of spiders.....to the extent that I give what my roommates call "a headless corpse" scream everytime I find even a small one. I am trying to confront this irrational fear and at least bring it to an "eek" scream level, and be able to think rationally....
Previous spider conversation: (as we are cleaning/renovating our new place)
Pink: High pitched drawn out scream as I stomp on a spider that I swear is as big as my head, though its realistically probably a lot smaller....
Muse,BK, BusDriver, Brian: running in: is evrything ok?!?
Pink: (sheepishly) I found a spider
Brian: ok pink---let me teach you something: that was the HEADLESS CORPSE SCREAM. we do not use that scream unless you have just found a headless corpse--
headless corpse AAAAH!
spider eeeek!
got it?
Pink: (blushing, nods head, as everyone laughs at her plight)
here is my first rational thought concerning spiders in my area...
Via IM, my roomate told me that she found a black widow nest in my room.
TheMuse: I think there is a black widown nest in your room
Pink: ?!?
Pink: where did that come from
TheMuse: I was putting something in your closet and killed two big ones
Pink: and why tell the screamer? why not tell the male that kills them...
TheMuse: http://sf0.org/taskDetail/?id=863#praxis
TheMuse: because I lie!
TheMuse: haha
TheMuse: did that produce fear?
Pink: lol
Pink: yes
Pink: jerk
TheMuse: MUAHAHA
Pink: I was freaking out and thinking....(k gotta call mail, bleach closet, paint closet TONIGHT)
With my ability to think rationally, even with the though of icky spiders in my room....
I consider this phobia, not conquered, but battleable (I dont think that last one is a word)
P.S. the pic I posted to this gives me the heebie-jeebies

I had to give you a vote because of unfair Muse tactics by my evil sister. Although...I have to say if you lived where I live the fear wouldn't be irrational. I have never been so afraid of spiders until I lived in a place alive with scorpians, rattlesnakes and desert recluse spiders (related to brown and just as vemonous). Most spiders around here make a black widow almost innocuous by comparison. Hmmm...guess I shouldn't have said that and hope for a visit one day
Muse, that is so not fair.
...ick!
