The Things We Bury For Our Friends by mock piratey turtle, lightgreenish

March 26th, 2006 8:20 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Bury something. Contact another player that you don't know in real life and give them instructions on where to dig it up. Your instructions can be either straight-forward or cryptic.

When you contact them you should also invite them as a collaborator on the task.

This task would be particularly enjoyed by members of The U of A, but any SF0 member is invited to seek. Plenty of plunder to be found!

------
Begin your quest at the tower in the center of the Berkeley campus.

On the south side of this great monument of time there is a smaller alter to times past.

Regardless of the 'when' at which you search, follow the line that would be traced were you to stand here at 6pm.

Do you see what I sees?

Follow this path over the rushing of strawberries and find the effigy of the father of the skinned pig.

Follow his gaze to that which makes him smile so.

You are very near to what you seek. She tries to turn away, but her traitorous left foot points the way to a hidden path that will lead you to your goal. Turn away from the river, it does not hold what you seek.

A towering rebellion against death's grip, place yourself deep within its living heart. Behind its central leg, where there is a window to the modern world, unearth your prize.

hOly molY..i can't wait to find this buttOn!!! Kelly yOu are awesome...

3/31/06 **Me and a couple of accomplices set out fur Berkeley on Friday night...We began the task heading fur the big tower and reaching so at 6PM... (Kelly.. you were very crafty with your directions to the buttons..) ( I have never even been to Berkeley campus!!) I did my research before hand and printed out several maps...things were going smoothly...it was exciting and fun figuring out the riddles!!

right at the end...i could not fur the life of me dig up those buttons!! I brought a spoon from home to help with the digging and a flashlight incase it grew dark. It took us awhile to find the spot..the right spot..i prolly looked like a mad woman digging the whole grounds up in a certain location..(got many a random stares..) but still no luck.. although i was certain..i was there?? i thought perhaps all the rain had messed me up?? we back tracked..read and read the instructions...i was in a state of panic.. we were so close!!!

I started digging (not harming!!) in other random places...thought perhaps maybe shoulda turned the other direction..was down by the river....was just about to abort the whole task..it had been nearly an hour since we reached the tower and it was getting dark...when i heard a sound...and i found the buttons...

i took a ton of pictures documenting our search but then later realized that i should not post them as there are more buttons to be discovered!

A toy car and a refreshing drink...

So my brother and I headed out in search of treasure. We headed out a bit late, so it was already dark when we got to the starting point. It made it a little difficult, but we made our way. Without giving away too much detail, the second to last stop is VERY hard to see in the dark. But we made it. I don't know if if there are any more buttons buried, but we found an old fashion Fresca bottle (very awesome) and a toy car. Sitting at a cafe right now, with a dead camera, so pictures coming soon...
