Bus Stop Catalog by dexter in question

May 14th, 2007 3:44 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Take notes on various bus stops, and then post your notes at the bus stops in the form of official-looking informational plaques.

Your notes should include the following:

* location of bus stop (street address, latitude and longitude)
* activity to perform at bus stop (an exercise, things to consider)
* “see also" ("If you enjoy this bus shelter, you might also enjoy...")
* notable sights near/at bus stop
* precise figures ("From where you stand you can see exactly 17 pine trees", etc.)
* rating ("This bus stop is rated 3 out of 5 stars")
* narrative (wine tasting lingo like "This bus stop is a rich bouquet of..." or "this bus stop is woodsy yet refined, with a _____ finish")
* critical reading of bus stop ("juxtaposition of __ and __ leads to __")
* defects of bus stop
* attributes of bus stop
* info about bus line (where it comes from and where it goes)
* a name for the bus stop (like "Summercamp")

You may also download this useful notebook.

I had a lot of fun doing this one. I've tried to pick only the bus stops I've used, which is admittedly few, but I think I captured their individual flavors. Does anyone know a better way to put documents on here?

Looks good so far- if you're going to tell them to enquire online, you need an address!

Not when they're infested with Chavs, but yeah, on a whole, they are not a bad place to wait!

Can you read the documents on this? If not, does anyone know how to put documents on here? I used Microsoft Word.

Sidcup bus stops.. nice? I think you need to document the bus stops closer Mr Dexter. The current distance betrays the true beauty of the scratchings and tags.

Yeah, you can read the documents by going to the smaller view, selecting them, and then downloading the file.

Is this somewhere in England, by any chance? If not, maybe I'm just "homesick."

Yes, this is in Sidcup, Kent, about 30 southeast of London by train. Near Eltham, Bexley, Lewisham, Blackfen.

“This bus stop is like a ripe tempranillo, light and early. It plays across the palate like a morning sunrise.”

This is absolutely fantastic. If you need a member of the newly created GLRT PA (love it, love it, love it.) to help further the bus stop cataloging or any other transport work I am more than willing to throw my hat in your direction.

Ive just read all three of the bus stop notes, this is absolutely superb. It brings a tear to my eye that such things are going up around the greater london area. Truly inspiring sir.

Though I was only able to appreciate the full beauty of the task when i managed to view the documents attached.. perhaps you should photograph the documents at a close range so they are mostly viewable through photography..

I love these so much, and you set a good standard for this task.
