Merci by Raphael Jones

INSTRUCTIONS: Whilst in Scotland, I couldn't help but notice that along the roadway, there were signs posted, simply saying, "Thank You". These signs were as regular as stop signs, or speed limit signs.
I asked my grandfather,"why are there Thank You signs posted?"
He replied,"Well, it's thanking us for driving safely. Also, if you can't read the sign, you're driving too fast."
He may have been telling the truth, but I preferred to interpret the sign at face value, like a bumper sticker that says, "Don't be a jerk." Just "Thank You".

Make a Thank You sign, and post it appropriately.
Thank you.

This is my first completed task after uploading my picture. I made my sign in Microsoft PowerPoint on my work pc computer. I printed the sign, and posted in on the bulletin board in the hall at my school, next to the elevator.

Ah, a clean, minimalist sign, indeed. There's something kind of compelling about the starkness.

It would be interesting to hear how people interpret this sign...like, what they think they are being thanked for. If you do happen to overhear any such comments, please update us.

I envision this sign having a subliminal effect on people. I like the idea of thanking people for nothing in particular, as if to say that their existence, or just doing whatever they are doing, walking down the hall, to the stairs or the elevator or the bathroom -is enough. I hope people read it and it just sinks in by preconceptual apprehension, rather than by logical analysis.
