Significant Gesture Creation And Use by Corrigan NnN

August 3rd, 2006 2:26 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create and document a significant gesture. Use the gesture in your everyday life. If you wish, you may design a gesture that can be used to indicate your involvement in SFZero to other players or San Franciscans.

OutQuotes.
MAny word processors turn pairs of quotes (" or ') into SmartQuotes, which are curved paranthetically, cradling the fragile phrase lifted from its mossy context and now lying naked on the page. I imagined one day, however, that it is not the quoted material that needs demarcation, but everything else you are saying. Hence, I wished to replace inward curling SmartQuotes with outward bracing OutQuotes. I don't know how to make Word do this, but in conversation I have replaced the standard AirQuotes (both hands raised infront of speaker, palms forward; index and middle finger extended up then grasping down) with the analogous gesture with forearms crossed to signify OutQuotes.
