Random Parade by r0ck c4ndy, star5, Oliver X, space bug, Ink Tea, lark, alice gray, Spun Lepton, Curiou Sir

INSTRUCTIONS: Create a parade in a public place at a time and place that wouldn't be traditional for a parade (not on a holiday down a main street) and document it. The parade can consist of just you, but the more people, the better. Invent a holiday/reason for your parade, or just leave people wondering. Decorate your parade vehicle, whether it be a car, bike, skateboard, shopping cart, etc.. Dress up, create signs, throw candy, play music, wave to people, try to convince people to vote for you (for some made up office/cause)... do whatever you can to encourage a parade-like atmosphere.

It was a cold grey day. What this city needed was a bright colorful parade! Alas no, holiday today..

RANDOM PARADE TO THE RESCUE!!

We gathered our colorful fun things and set off to brighten up Minneapolis. We gave out balloon flowers, eye patches, pirate tattoos and sherrif badges. We got lots of strange looks, some cheers, some honks.. a 'What the fuck?' a few comments about halloween.. rock candy even gave sherrif badges away to a couple of cowboys in cowboy hats.

Ink:
I was going to put my pirate flag on my bike, as per usual, but discovered that someone had stolen my bike seat the day before, so I walked. It was a fun time. I discovered I had some kazoo skillz, and gave an eyepatch to a bag-boy in the grocery store. He seemed pleased. I was tickled by our rollerskaters, and it was plenty windy for those of us with flags or other wind-powered pieces of whimsy.

Star5:
I think my favorite part was wallking through the grocery store. In one door and out the other, without stopping. Some people were excited by my balloon flowers, others were confused and seemed a bit reluctant to take them.. Overall, I had lots of fun. The big thing we lacked was not enough sound.. we needed more toy instruments, drums or a boombox or something. Now we know for next time!

I was very excited to do this task. This task was actually the one that made me want to join sf0, and is the one that I tell people about. So I'm really glad to have finally been able to do it!
I was sad at how unappreciated we were. No one wanted my Sheriff stars! I didn't like being on rollerskates with walkers, it made me clumsy to be going that slow, or otherwise I was way ahead of everyone. The store was the funnest part and I almost didn't go in because I was scared! I would be soooo happy to see a random parade, and it was fun to have. I think that more noise would be a good thing for the next parade...

spacebug
This was fun. I was in and out of kind of a grumpy mood for most of that day before the parade, and there's something about wearing a tutu and rollerskates and a silly hat and antennae and holding balloon flowers and playing a kazoo that just really makes you incapable of being grumpy, especially when you're with a bunch of other people in bunny ears and juggling and stuff. I also thought we were pretty underappreciated. My favorite part, I think, was when someone in a car yelled "What are you marching for?" and many of us responded in unison: "FOR FUN!" I also learned that toe stops are more important than I liked to give them credit for, and that learning to skate without them on over concrete seams and bumpy pavement was a learning experience. I also think that a good boom box would have contributed a lot to our overall paradeyness.

kannon:
This was wonderfully fun. Some of the reactions to the parade were positive - several women in a van drove by us as we paraded along Hennepin Avenue and one of them yelled, "God Bless you people!" Other folks met us with "It's the day after St. Pat's and I'm hung over. Please, no bright colors or loud noises" style glares. Overall, the reactions were mostly positive, and it was a lot of fun adding some color to our cold, gray, sterile city. One last hurrah before game reset!

Curiou Sir:
I couldn't find the hat I'd wanted to wear or the playing cards I'd wanted to clip onto my spokes, and i also couldn't get my bull roarer to work right. Still, I had fun with this task, especially later, on the road, when i could weave between our skaters.

Alice Gray:
Interpreting the "random" nature of the parade was an interesting contrast to the "parade" part of it. because there's at least some organization involved in getting ten people together to do something unified. we randomly chose directions some of the time by casting dice. We could pretty much never remember all the words to anything, except Row Row Row Your Boat.

OMG OMG OMG!

I want to hug each and every one of you. Had I come across you on the street, this would have made me feel so good.

Damn, I'm voting for everything but I could vote just for Inky with the R alone. That's like an extra helping of joy.
