Why hello there SF0,
This is my artsy fartsy debut entry, so let's hope it's a good one.
For starters, I used to spend so many hours working tediously in front of a set like the one below—
Me, a little kid inspired by Tim Burton and Disney, I wanted a nifty cartoon to call my own.
Video camera on an unstable tripod, the scenes would play out piece by piece.
Stop motion animation on scratchy old VHS, probably recording over some Barney episode. I wouldn't be surprised.
Back then, this was the only way I knew. I would take a video camera, then spend way too long shooting little clay figures dancing around, then realize that the film failed to record properly, then start again with that elementary school ambition.
Like I have the patience now.
So the other day I was bored out of my mind needed to get the creative juices flowing. And what better way to do so than tasking? I finally got off my ass and stopped being a SF0 drifter, decided to move into the realm of active member.
Browsing through the tasks, "Red Light, Green Light" could not be topped.
I whipped out a good old digital camera, and piled the most colorful items in my house together to get a nice set.
And next, I had to find a star for my production—
A clay figure or an lego character? A robot or a rubber duckie? A doll? Or maybe a limited edition Sporty Spice barbie?
It was a tough decision.
But in the end, I decided that the perfect candidate was a dusty old wooden cat figure a neighbor of mine once gave me.
She lived in the store room of another man's house, interesting lady indeed.
Years ago, I had started a stop-motion animation with this cat but never finished, and here I was with inspiration and energy and everything else.
So, I started where I left off...
And this is where it got me.
But as it turned out, I never finished this video either! ...Hence the sudden ending.
My camera failed me, broke my heart really, ran out of batteries half way through the process.
I decided this is good enough for now, and maybe one day I will want to make another animation, and finally finish the job.
"A Stroll in the Park"
Enjoy!
