On Fillmore just south of Oak, I found a folded up and decrepit piece of brownish paper. I picked it up and unfolded it to find the portrait of a military man standing in front of water, drawn in what looks like colored pencil. he's cartoonish but lovingly detailed: the decorations on his jacket are carefully documented, as are his rosy lips and lush eyelashes. There are no identifying mark attributing the picture to an artist. Now he is hanging up on the wall of the kitchen at home, and he seems to fit right in.
