Merci by Capricious Chicky

Sometimes the gentlefolk in my building seem to have trouble with the concept of 'trash/recycling receptacles'. Banana peels in the elevator, junk mail on the lobby floor, bags of garbage five steps from the dumpster. It annoys me vastly out of proportion to how important (or even interesting) it is. Which annoys me again. It's an annoyance double-play.
Oddly? Happily? One shared area is always tidy: the laundry room. Trash in the trash can. Temporarily abandoned odd socks lined neatly on the folding table. I don't know why this one room is the permaexception. But I'm grateful. Probably all out of proportion to how important or interesting the courtesy is.
It's really hard to be grateful and annoyed at the same time.
Which makes me want to hug people.
Or possibly make a sign. And post it.

Merci 3

One red spot in a very VERY beige room. Won't last. Ah well. Many thanks, courteous part-time neatnik apartment-dwellers.

Tending to multiple strangers' odd socks just because you and they happen to be in the same place must surely be a refutation of the whole People are Jerks philosophy?
I've learnt it's inadviseable to actually hug strangers in laundry rooms, though... More's the pity.
Cleanliness is something that also leaves me full of hug-worthy-gratitude.
