New Take on an Old Riddle by Matthew Kilgannon

December 24th, 2007 9:40 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: And so the Sphinx asked, "What has 4 legs in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and 3 at night?" Most people know the answer. Document 3 seperate items or animals, one with 4 legs, one with 2 legs, and one with 3 legs at the appropriate times of day--none of which can be a human being.

The participants in the Around Alone Race, run once every few years, have 4 legs of sailing left in the morning on the day the race starts.

The right triangle in a math problem being completed after school at 3:00 PM has 2 legs.

Finally, the glass of wine my grandfather drinks at night has three legs running slowly down the inside of the glass after a good swirl, indicating a full-bodied liquid.

Very cute and poetic! Welcome to SFZero, Matthew Kilgannon.

I am horribly curious if you happen to have illustrations or photographs of these legs to show me? That would delight me especially.
