Community Performance by KC, Lainthulu, TEA, Rusty Shackleford, Namikus, alex laskaris

INSTRUCTIONS: Busk in a busy street. Bring extra instruments and attempt to get strangers to join in performing songs with you.

According to my dictionary, a street is "A thoroughfare (usually including sidewalks) that is lined with buildings." For the purpose of this task, the busy street was at Concord High School during Brunch. It was a busy time, students passing here and there, eating, talking, usually contained within their little groups. We all brought as many instruments as possible (ukulele, pots, bottles, electric keyboard, electric guitar, drumpad, maracas, harmonicas, etc) and played.

Soon enough, the band kids joined in. Good, we had musicians and started to sound like...MUSIC!

Bystanders watched in wonder. Was this a cult? Perhaps. Were they willing to pick up an instrument? Perhaps. Did they break a couple? Perhaps. But it was all in good fun. And accidental.

People would come and play for a few minutes, then tire out and someone else would take their instrument. The band teacher walked by in amazement.

probably 20 or so people joined us in all. We weren't counting. We were too busy playing.

"Please borrow or make an instrument and JOIN US!" She was standing on a table. And smiling. Broadly. A band-member in the back with his saxophone.

I added a link to the video. For whatever reason, when I inserted the URL for the video, it said "error uploading."

Aha! YouTube video insertions have their own special language. Of course, I don't know the code to make the computer read something as NOT code, so watch me try to convey code without using code:

You want and open square bracket (Not a carrot bracket or the swirly one), then 'youtube:' and the webpage url for the video (not the one youtube gives you for embedding in a blog, but the one at the top of the page), then a close square bracket.

So, if square brackets were *, it would look like this:

*youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P4curD3Ao0*
