The Things We Bury For Our Friends by star5, mean jeannine

May 17th, 2006 5:50 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Bury something. Contact another player that you don't know in real life and give them instructions on where to dig it up. Your instructions can be either straight-forward or cryptic.

When you contact them you should also invite them as a collaborator on the task.

i started chatting with "star5" because i recognized her orange hair. we decided to do the buried treasure task together.
i went looking for something simple in colors she'd like. orange and black seemed good bets. when i found my treasure, i picked a nice spot near my house. there's a set of old railroad tracks that have been torn up and turned into a scenic bike path. since i didn't have a shovel i dug a hollow in some landscaping rocks, covered everything up, and made a little marker with some lighter rocks.

i did this all in broad daylight with bikers and joggers going past and giving me looks, so it made me a little nervous that my treasure would be gone before star5 got to it.

Star5 says: Here are the instructions I received from Mean Jeannine..

go to humbolt and the mall behind the library
stand on the northwest corner
walk west until you get to the no parking sign
turn north, walk towards the fence
look for an arrow made of white stones
it points to the treasure!

and she was right! it did!
yay treasure!
(and perfect colors for me right now.)
