Vandalize Reality by Wishy Washy, Jane Doe

December 3rd, 2007 11:21 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Vandalize Wikipedia - change any fact to a fiction.

Then go out into the real world and make your fiction come true.

Make sure your edit hasn't been wrongly reverted!

I HEREBY CLAIM THIS TASK FOR THE REVOLUTION!

As part of another recently completed task we had the opportunity to interact with one "William R. Howell". Clearly we were speaking with the same person described here. So, we went ahead and made the appropriate changes to the Wikipedia article to reflect the current whereabouts (and activities!) of this man.

In particular:

More recently, Howell has been known to send non-solicited e-mail to people inviting them to participate of a shared business venture. It is believed by many that these emails are of dubious legality.

Reality has been vandalized!

Have you actually made the new content come true, though?

It's still there right now. Just letting you know.

Wishy asked me if I wanted to join this task as it relates to our other task and without having any idea what he was talking about I said, "sure!"

My actual contribution to the task is to be the one to undo it. =:-)
(No one else will ever look at this page to fix it....)

Of course we could have a profound conversation about the slipperiness of the signifier "William R. Howell," and its fluid relationship to various target signifieds like spammers, retired business execs, and second-cousins of characters on Gilligan's Island....

Pfft. Just get in touch with your spammer again, have him/her sign up for SFZero, add as a collaborator and there ya go!

Nice idea!

I've contacted our spammer to ask him to explain his Wikipedia page....we'll see what happens!
