The Architect and the Urchin by Nyambura the Rainmaker

note: i think I'm behind in writing this ... i totally thought i had finished this and submitted it! WOW.
it was another day to wrestle at the station. a day that i wanted to end on time but still knew better. it's tough getting out of work on time, much less two-hours past when i'm supposed to get to leave. i work way too much and i confess, i miss socializing and making new friends. i miss life...
still, i frantically turned over projects quick enough that i made it to the starting point with five-minutes to spare.
for me - the Architect and the Urchin was one of my rare chances to break out of my shitty routine of sleep, wake, prep for the rat race, grind in the rat race, come home and pass out. the game was my savior from the murder of monotony. and what a good time i had!
my gear checklist consisted of:
*my awesome 10-year-old comfortable running shoes, reliable socks, rugged attire that conceals, an unobtrusive bag for basic necessities (water, map, phone etc ...).
the meeting spot was in the park is 8 blocks from my home, and one of my favorite places in the city.
in gleeful retrospect -
i went from a clinical office setting to a warm evening under the soft shade of fragrant tree's, cool grass, and a soothing water fountain. i was transformed from everyday city dweller Tam into the clever and stealthy adventurer named Ann M. Moukperian, CHA. then i was set loose to run through a city divided into the sadness of poverty and the perversion of wealth. projects and mansions. tourists and confused residents. why are you running? who are you hiding from?
at one point during the game i was hiding in the projects when a cop car drove past. how weird i must've looked to the officers. a skinny white girl crouched and hiding between cars in the projects. they kept driving though. at another point i saw a group of "oranges" in a sea of tourists on Michigan Avenue. we, the group and i, locked eyes and i gave chase. how odd it must've looked to see one skinny white girl chasing a group of 8 people.
the Architect and the Urchin took me out of my boring comfort zone. it removed the shackles of the cubicle and showed me the difference between meaningless and meaningful. it linked me to others who crave free and creative thinking and
sent me on a life long journey of awareness and social appreciation. bravo!

these aren't resized and since i ran more than snapped pix - they're not the best pictures ;)
