Having completed CHEAT! admit and explain your cheat to whomever you cheated on. Do not be cheap about this. For example, if you cheated on the IRS, you mustn't just tell your cousin who interns for them. Explain it to the freaking IRS, and the entire taxpaying public, such that they acknowledge and understand how you cheated.
Give this knowledge a chance to sink in; give your dupe(s) a chance to raise new defenses. Then, without being discovered, pull off the same cheat again.
