Feats Of Strength by TJ W

Not so much a feat of strength...but most assuredly one of skill, concentration, and will. Especially when drinking gets involved. I challenged a random person tonight at the bar to a couple games of darts!

The guy in question introduced himself as "Castro", stating it was his last name. Alright my man, you got it.

So we decided to play some Cricket. For those of you who don't know, this game involves throwing darts and attempting to "close" the numbers 20 to 15 and then the bulls eye. To close the number, one needs to put three darts into the number. A dart in the white or black colored areas of a number count as one, the outer red and green ring count as 2, and the inner red and green ring count as 3.
The first game was a wash for me. He had been playing (and drinking) already so he had a bit of a head start. His score is over on the right under the "C" and I'm on the left under "TJ"

We continue to play two more games of Cricket...all of which I lose

At this point, Castro is coming off as a nice guy. Friendly, outgoing, good dart player. We decided to switch over to the second dartboard and play a different game: 501. 501 basically starts each player out with 501 points. The object is to get to 0 but you can only finish by hitting a double. So for example, if I was left with 14 points, I would need to hit a Double 7 (the red or green section on the outer ring of the 7). The first game, he just starts to wail on me, getting two 'tons' in two turns. A ton refers to 100 points in three darts (the number of darts you throw per turn). As you can see here with the score board behind him:

Unfortunately for my man, Castro, I came back to win that first game by getting my score to a 40 and hitting a double 20 before he could get his double 1. Boom baby...its now 3:1 Castro.

This is where things get kind of rough. He wasn't happy at all about that. When we started up the next game we played a bit and then he got all up in my face about some scoring issue...I had thrown a 20, 18, and a 4 for a total of 42 points. He thought I only got 28 (20 and two 4's) There were others there to help me confirm this statement and he accepted it. We get down to the last bit of this game and we clear the boards, as the math was getting a bit much, and start back over at the top. I had 43 and got a 3 then bombed the next two so I could be set up at 40 (double 20s) my man, Castro, got himself to 45 points. He looked at the board and threw 43 (my old score) by hitting a double 8, 1, and a double 13. He thought he had won the game. I told him, no...you did not. He stated "the fuck I didn't, add it up bitch." TO which I said "yeah, that was my score last round...you now need a double 1 once again to finish..." he glared shook his head, packed up his darts and said "I shot what I was aiming for...I won" and left. The others watching us kept telling him he was wrong. He didn't want to hear it.

So I won and made it 3:2 Castro...but given the situation...I think I won the contest overall...I may have made a rival as well...
