Create A Personal Alphabet by Cunning Linguist

June 24th, 2006 1:41 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create your own alphabet letters. The letters/characters should not resemble the characters in an existing alphabet. Post a key that shows your alphabet letters and how they translate into English (or another widely used language). Along with your alphabet, post a note written using your personal alphabet.

Bonus points given for providing your alphabet letters as a downloadable font.

I always liked alphabets with very rounded letters to them... when done into a font, they resemble more human handwriting than an actual computer font. So I sat down w/ a permanent marker and drew up some very rounded letters, threw a few dots in for good measure.

One thing I didn't realize that you could do when creating a font is you can also determine how much spacing (if any) there exists between the letters in your font. Some of the letters are arranged so that they actually overlap the previous letter... this gave it more of that 'handwritten' feel to it.

I could tell you what the sentence written in the 'cunning' font says, but what fun would that be?
