The Callouses on Your Hands by Arietis

OR

Think of a physical mark on yourself, and invent a story story behind it. Tell the story.

Please, don't tell us which of these options you select.

In the palm of my hand is a small, sharp, and dark, little thing. It could be an alien transmitter like I saw in that X-Files episode except those are inserted into the back of the unsuspecting human's neck while this is in my hand. It could be a fang from an animal which attacked me before I vanquished it with my other hand. It could be a pricker from a rose.

But it isn't. It's pencil lead. It all happened when I finished sharpening a pencil in my electric pencil sharpener in middle school. Those sharpeners really do the job and at the time I was into having the point of the pencil be supremely sharp so you can imagine the lead point. Feeling successful I walked out of my room and turned into the hall when my dad popped out of nowhere wanting to know why I hadn't taken out the garbage and startled my poor soul thereby causing me to drop my ever-so-sharp pencil. Yet I was no clumsy fool and using my ninja cat reflexes I reached down and caught the item but in doing so caused it to stab into my palm. I held up my hand, complete with pencil dangling and asked my dad what to do. He pulled it out and the lead remained lodged within my epidermis ever since.

There it is.

There it is.

I'm sure it's happened to many. It just so happens that the graphite is still lodged in my hand - you can even see the extra-sharp tip if you look closely.
