Contents of a Character's Wallet by Alex Peterson

January 22nd, 2007 7:57 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: In Jack Finney's short story, "Contents of a Dead Man's Pocket", the character - clinging to the side of a building - imagines what the world will think of him if they only have the contents of his pockets to consider.

Empty your pockets, your wallet, your purse out onto a table- tally the contents and tell us what the world would think of you, if they had only those effects to consider. Then, decide upon one thing to add to the contents of your pockets, your wallet, or your purse, which will better enunciate the truth of your person to the world.

In my pockets are: a calculator, barces wax (for covering wires that poke into the skin), pencil, mp3 player, penciol lead, wallet w/ RPGA membership card, and library card, starbucks receipt, receipt for two mice from a reptile store, a Game Boy Advance, and All Quiet on the Western Front.People looking at this would probably think I was a huge nerd, but would be confused because I must own a snake of some kind.

You really had a copy of All Quiet on the Western Front in your pockets?
And a receipt for mice? That's awesome.

I think it may be one of those European man-purse wallets, otherwise they would be some flattened mice.

Nonetheless, pics would be great.
