Document Confusion by Beckah B

April 4th, 2007 12:58 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Document the experience of confusion, in yourself or in others.

I think the perfect documentation for this task is actually another task.
It is called Stand By for Love.
The only instructions read:
Go to the airport. You'll know what to do.

Apparently people don't know what to do because Comments have included:

"Maybe it means fly standby to Dallas (Love Field)."

"My first reaction was that perhaps this task required the participant to wait in the arrivals area, holding up a sign proclaiming love for an arriving passenger, real or imagined. Any other guesses?"

"I was thinking maybe you have to get a stand by ticket under the name "love"? because they announce those as "stanby for "

but i don't know if you have to pay for those tickets beforehand or not, also, i'd imagine it's pretty hard to fake you're last name now-a-days."

Somebody might want to clarify the actually meaning of this task.

The link is Stand By for Love.

Ive personally always seen it as a possible starting point for chance.

Perhaps you see someone who reminds you of a lost love who now lives in australia.. Suddenly youve booked a flight and you're on a one way trip to Melbourne.

I suppose its a fine line that a task has to walk in order to appeal to the creative mind. It has to have enough information to inspire and avoid the feeling that you might be doing it "wrong", but also enough vague area to allow you to spread your impulsive wings..

It's also, I discovered...

...a song lyric.

I found this out at the end of The Sweet Cheat Gone, when it suddenly came on over the speakers, a song with a chorus that ends "Stand by for love!" I looked at Ian suddenly with some sort of half-realization, half-wtf look and he just grinned.

Damn their deep, dark, cunning plans that we lowly pawns shall never comprehend.
Speaking of fantastic names.. Glasnost. Now thats smart.
