Language "Encryption" by Water Dragon

July 5th, 2006 11:45 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Using online translation tools, "encrypt" some text (that you write or find) by translating it multiple times into different languages and then back into English.

For instance, "The drive to play San Francisco Zero" translated from English to German to French to Italian to English again becomes "The order of Saint game Francisco".

English:
How I wish to hold you in my arms,
loving your soul with all my touch!

English -> Spanish at: http://translation2.paralink.com/
Como deseo sostenerle en mis armas,
¡el cariño de su alma con todo mi toque!

Spanish -> French at: http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr
Comme désir lui soutenir dans mes armes,
l'affection de son âme avec tout mon contact !

French -> German at: http://www.localtranslation.com/
Als Verlangen ihn bei meinen Waffen zu unterstützen
die Zuneigung seiner Seele mit all meinem Kontakt!

German -> English at: http://freetranslation.paralink.com/
As a desire to support him with my weapons
the affection of his soul with all my contact!

Could you tell us who this is from? For our report, of course.

This is original text from me. I was thinking about a certain somebody in my life since I don't speak their native tongue and this task reminded me of them because I often write things and translate them online for her which often makes her laugh because the translations are so odd sometimes. I selected "arms" in this poem because I knew that it is often mistranslated as weapons in various translators.

That is something we should let the FBI know about. We're glad you put forethought into this, citizen. Good job.

One other thing I wanted to mention is that I used a different translator for every step as documented by the URLs. I figured this might be worth something to some voters out there.

I was strongly considering voting for this, until I saw the plea for bonus points. ;-`)

You bastard! It wasn't a plea per say, just a note. ;)
