Celebrity by whatis 42

September 6th, 2007 7:42 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Trace your genetic line to a celebrity.
If you cannot find one make one up.
Boast about how you are related to that celebrity for a day.

If I die of shame tomorrow, here's why:

According to family legend, I am related to George W. Bush. My father's ancestors came to the U.S. early, on one of the Mayflower-era ships. One of the more incompetent passengers on that ship threw himself overboard in a fit of idiocy, but another idiot rescued him. This legendary ancestor of mine survived and somehow managed to procreate (providing evolution-haters more evidence that Darwin could be wrong). My connection to our friendly neighborhood president is through this one ancestor, the one who fell off the boat. Let me emphasize this point: he fell off the boat, was rescued, and produced George W. Unfortunately, his offspring also produced me.

Can you forgive me if I don't go around boasting about this?

I am not certain if that is real or made up…

You fool! Don't make fun of it! Don't you know it goes Bush / Clinton / Bush / Clinton / Bush?! You could've been next!

wow, you have been away for a long time. What has prompted your return?? Did you feel an empty place in your heart, achin' for sf0?

Excuse me…

Well shoot, apparently I should've checked for comments! Silly me...

Regarding the story's truthfulness: The story is real, but its historical accuracy is impossible for me to verify.

Regarding my return: I'm not a huge fan of the new point system. I don't have enough time to do tasks frequently, so I'd prefer to see my points rise slowly and steadily. Instead, the new system resets my points just when I'm starting to make progress in the ranks. So I think that's what spurred my hiatus from sf0. It's also a little harder for me, since I don't know of anyone else in my city who does it (let me know if you run into another sf0 Columbus-ite!). As for my return....I dunno, I just felt like it? I've looked over the new tasks several few months or so since the switch, but only recently has any of them caught my interest. I also think that seeing my senior and my old TwinCities friends may have sparked my creativity.
