we vote for the attempted unification of peoples by the symbolic smudging of their currencies. Perhaps that this did not work is representative of the notion that integration should be about combining and exchanging and not a forced merger of two uniquely differing bodies.

t'is spooky to encounter the unexpected signs of life, but with no signs of the inhabitant. Did it look as tho someone is living there without permission or was all that stuff left over from when the house was in use?
This has an Alice in Wonderland feel to it in places. I suspect the reason you couldn't find where they work is because they don't. They have people to do that for them.
