The Callouses on Your Hands by Bionic Moses

One day a few months ago I decided I wanted to measure the voltage of this microwave transformer I had been using to create awesome (if eyeball impairing) 2-4 inch incredibly high powered electrical arcs. But at long last I faltered in my attention to safety and paid for it.

I reached over the transformer while it was on to mess with my instrument of measurement, which should never have been able to happen in the first place, and touched the output contacts for the transformer. Now this transformer outputs 2kv's (roughly) and I touched on my pinky and ring finger on my left hand. There was no pain, only reaction as I jumped about 4 feet back over some junk on the ground and convulsed into the fetal position before standing up and taking a huge breath.

I then took stock of my burned hand which now had 3 massive craters (my ring finger touched in 2 places on the same contact and It seems my skin acted as 2 resistors in parallel) and top layer superficial burns covering my entire palm, making most of my palm charred black with white flecks were the skin got burned in a more normal fashion. In addition my middle finger had burns were it was touching my ring finger but they were minor. I had my mom drive me to the local clinic were they applied bandages and some cream to help the burns, the picture I am going to post is the first picture I took of the burns after 2 weeks of healing. Once I find a new camera for my own use I will add a picture of the remaining scars.

No nerves left, so no pain.

To this day, I have yet to decide if electrical burns or solder burns are worse. Gnarly either way. Awesome.

eeeh!!

Man, I'm glad I wasn't eating.

Still, scars are cool.
