Standing in the shadow of art. by The Mark

August 29th, 2007 7:06 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Spend part of a sunny day looking for captivating shadows.
Find one you have an affinity for and outline it with chalk.
Document the time somewhere in the outline.
Repeat until you feel you have a new understanding for shadows and light.

Consider returning to the same spot and tracing the same objects shadow at a different time of day.

I started this task on bright sunny day, but unfortunatly, the sun nearly completly abandonned me in the end.

I traced the shadow of own of my shoe, first at 7:45 then 11:00 and finally 16:25.

The sun tried to leave me, but I could still somewhat make out the shadow.

That's a neat effect I hadn't expected--the shadows outlined in chalk look like they're glowing. They remind me of spectograms, too--an interesting association.

Oh funk finally…
