I decided the best course of action was to not think too hard about definitions of desire and how best to rate it, but simply to think about the things I wanted, and assign each an arbitrary "Desire Rating" out of ten. Not the most original, perhaps, but it seemed to work.
After some thought, I divided the things I wanted into 6 groups- Food, representing food and drink of all types, but also most other items necessary to sustain life; Recreation, representing entertainment in all it's forms; Harm, representing all hardship or sadness; Occupation, representing not just a job but merely things to do (i.e, occupy myself with), such as this; Companionship, representing all manner of human interaction, be it friendship, love, or family connections; and Purpose, representing a goal to work towards.
Food was given a rating of 7. I need all these things, and I rather enjoy tasting new things and experiencing new sensations, but I am also conscious of the fact that if I eat too much, I'll die (which I don't want, unless it's a bathtub full of beans, which is a pretty manly way to go), so that scaled back my desire a little .
Recreation was given a 9. Enjoying myself is one of the things I do best, and I, well, I enjoy it. Too much fun can't kill you, but it can distract you, so I took a point off it.
Companionship got the highest at a 10. I like being around other people and hanging out, so I gave it a high rating. I enjoy being a part of communities. Enough said.
Knowledge got a 10 as well. I love knowing things and learning new things, from the basics of actionscript to the lifespan of dragonflies. I acquire all the knowledge I can get my hands on.
Finally, purpose got an 8. As noted above, I like having things to do, but I prefer to have a final goal to work towards. That makes having an occupation that much better.
So, that's my Desire Graph.

Nice, nice.
