It's 11:30 in Halifax, and I'm about to eat lunch. What better time for a task?
I had originally written up a really great completion that involved a guy named Vincenzo and a girl who I had wanted to talk to because she was cute. Unfortunately, SF0 deleted it for some reason when I left the page. Very sad. It was quite the love story.
Anyways, now I'm here in Risley Hall, ready to do a completion. There are no pictures, because I don't think pictures really do it justice. I think the point of this task is to get it across in text. So, here we go.
The caf isn't busy right now since it just opened. There are a few people around, eating pizza and shepherd's pie, the special of the day. My friend, who's sitting across from me and wishes to remain unnamed, is eating pizza, a hamburger, rice and carrots. I've got some Mountain Dew and a burger and fries. The activity has picked up a little, some people are eating stir fry, some people are eating more pizza. Some are eating grilled cheese sandwiches. I see a guy who I recognize as a regular. He always sits in the same spot and looks fairly geeky, but I'm really not in any position to judge geekiness. He's eating pizza and fries. A guy with red hair just finished his meal and is washing it down with some chocolate milk. In vain, I'm sort of looking for the girl I saw while writing up V1 of this completion. I wish I'd said something to her, she was kind of cute. It's still very quiet, most people aren't out of class yet. The other half of the caf has much more people in it. The patio is pretty much empty, but that's understandable. The 41 bus just went by. It's the one I usually take to and from school. Red haired guy is leaving, but his companion, ma brown haired dude with glasses and a short goatee is just finishing. He seems to be insinuating himself into a conversation with two girls, that sly devil.
Ten minutes in and not much has happened. A girl with green streaks in her hair just went to get more food. My friend is peeling an orange and looking at me weird. Not sure why. The girl who I just mentioned walked out with some coffee, I think. The guy who I think is the manager just came and rearranged the cutlery.
Since not much is going on, I'll endeavor to describe my surroundings. The Risley caf is divided into two sections by a path that leads from the door to the buffet. Each half has four long tables and three round tables near the windows. There are four columns, two on each side. Geeky guy has finished his fries and is almost done his first slice of pizza. My friend went to get more food.
In retrospect, I really miss that girl.
Fifteen minutes left. The cafeteria activity hasn't picked up much. The two girls in the table across from me just finished. I see someone who I think I know, but it turns out to be someone else. The crowd seems to gravitate to the other side. One guy with a rope-and-bead necklace and an mP3 player is eating some shepherd's pie and corn. I can't see a lot of the people over on the other side. Most of them seem to be drinking juice or water. Amanda brought back two macaroons and a nectarine. I just finished my first hamburger. A girl with a grilled cheese sandwich and some macaroons sits down a few seats away. I ask my friend if what I'm doing is creepy. She tells me it's better that I'm doing it for a reason and not just my own amusement. She says it would be creepy if I was under a table with binoculars. That means I'll have to forget the next task completion. She says what I'm doing is merely unsettling.
The crowd is getting more evenly distributed now. Ten minutes to go and I still don't see anyone I recognize. I'm going to go get some more Mountain Dew. Or perhaps water.
I decided on apple juice. There aren't many people in the buffet. My friend just chuckled at a guy wearing a scarf. He did look kind of funny, considering he was wearing an open neck shurt. Two more girls just replaced the two that left before on the table in front of us. One has a roast beef sandwich and some pickles, the other has a sandwich I can't figure out and some salad. Despite the drought of people, there are still too many to document them all.
I'm almost done my second burger with seven minutes to go. Rope necklace guy is talking to a friend who's sitting on the edge of the table. People are coming and going, I don't recognize anyone. My friend is going to get more food, I think. Short goatee guy just left. There's a guy with some sort of pseudo-pompadour who was just looking at me. My friend got another orange. I apologize to her for being a bad conversationalist, she laughs and says she thinks it's funny. A guy and a girl just took their dishes to the cleaning section. Five or six guys just left. My friend tells me that it's funny that every so often I'll look up from what I'm doing and glance around like a really bad spy. I'm offended that she thinks I'm a bad spy, but I can understand the humor. Geeky guy just finished his second slice of pizza. He seems like a really slow eater. I make a mental note to maybe talk to him later, just to find out what he's like. It worked with Vincenzo this morning, after all. I finish the last of my drink and go to get some dessert.
I got a macaroon. It's pretty good. On the way back, I remarked to a guy that, freaky though it may sound, I really liked his haircut. And I do. It's very nice. With less than a minute to go, I reflect on the girl from the first completion. In her leather jacket, with her coffee, did she even notice me? I wonder where she is right now, if maybe she's writing something about me. Probably not.
And, at 12:00, it looks like this slice of life ends. Did you enjoy it? I hope you found it interesting on some level. Perhaps I will add some pictures after all, once I bring my camera. If I ever see that girl again, I'll let you know.
Until next time, SFZerians,
HENSHIN!

You made me hungry.
