Microfiction by Ariock Knight

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a very short piece of fiction. It should be less than 200 words. Post the piece as your proof, and send it to one other player.

They were on Tattoine. At least it was more fun than Arrakis and all of their doped-up fundamentalists. But still, no place for world class dancers.

As the lights came up and Max Rebo's band started to play the first strains of the Alderaan Waltz, the Dancing Kids flowed onto the stage. This music and the thought of the doomed planet meant that tears streamed down their faces as they danced. They didn't need to see, as their bodies moved without thought.

The transmission from the Hutt's agent had been brief. To pay their debts off, he insisted that they perform for him in his compound. How could they refuse? All their money had been stolen by their manager. That was why HE'D been able to run.

The last notes died in the great hall, and the ruffians who surrounded the great worm looked at their shoes, clearing their throats and wiping their wet faces. Jabba's words, though in a language that sounded like a frog vomiting, were low and reverent.

"I'd planned to sell you two into slavery to make up my losses. But you would have been separated. I couldn't do that. You belong together."
