Trespassing the Future by Ariock Knight
June 17th, 2008 1:20 PM
My work affords me the ability to trespass in many places that will never be the same again.
This is the story of one such place.
I inspect water resources facilities, so I chose the interior of a water tank as my place I will not be able to go in 10 years. This tank will be full of approximately 3.5 million gallons of water in 10 years (hopefully next year).
The only way in or out is down a 40-ft tall ladder. It's very creepy inside. Sounds echo and it becomes nearly impossible to talk to other people from more than 10 feet away. The light streaming in and reflecting off the puddle of water creates eerie reflections.
Apart from the body harness I have to wear (the source of the creepy noises in the last video), it's pretty cool to be in there.

Here's a link to the reflection video (on my flickr):

It has no sound.

I wouldn't be able to go to that place NOW, let alone ten years from now. The luck of the civil engineer inspector dude, I tells ya!

I really love the image on the last video... beautiful.
No-one will be able to go there in at least 10 years but you just took me from my stupid boring desk to the chamber of no-water echoes of the metal-carabineers on the harness I am not wearing. Thanks.
Light travels in a straight line and I can“t hardly see my hands if I turn the ladderless way.
