Get a Reply From A Stranger by Ben Whitehouse

February 4th, 2008 12:36 AM / Location: 51.499873,-0.232805

INSTRUCTIONS: Obtain the mailing address of a random stranger (perhaps by flipping through the phone book). Send them a letter that convinces them to reply.

I don't have a phone book in my office or at home. Somehow I survive without one.

Now I have to pick a random stranger.

I shouted across the office at Jojo who I work with and asked her to pick me someone random to write to.

She said "Innocent Smoothies" not having any context to what I was saying.

I think I might have pulled a face as she then said "Was that wrong?".

So I drifted over to http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/ and set about finding my target.

I started by clicking on "us". Then onto "working at innocent"- that might have information about actual people... who work there. Then hit up the "our people" link.

My eye was caught by this blog post: http://innocentdrinks.typepad.com/innocent_drinks/2008/01/monday-makes-yo.html

They have a Ben who works there who also makes clothing mistakes... this could only be fate pointing out that this would be my target to write to. His name is Ben G.

Going to the contact us page means you find a lot of excellent pictures and you can find out the surnames of the various staff memebers.

Who knew stalking could be this easy... :-)

And I know just how to lure him into replying to a letter from me. With tales of clothing mistakes. (I've attached the pictures I sent- I know that this part would also qualify for the work is so strange task- you can see the praxis I submitted elsewhere)

So I waited a few days... got back in the office after the weekend and there was a box on my chair. Ominous and mysterious.

I opened it up and look what was inside... a reply from Ben. But he'd gone to creative lengths too. Hurrah!

So I believe this is quite a beautiful completion and deserves to have a vast number of

Panda

This is me at work dressed as a panda. The costume was lying around so I popped it on. You'll see I'm wearing my name tag so I'm technically working.

Does what it says really... (Note the name tag... also technically working)

Bob

This is Bob. I wear him when I want peace and quiet at work. The box makes me very present but people also make an effort to ignore me. Nametag alert.

Here I am wearing the sunglasses which I challenge other Ben to wear. And the nametag.

(Not me that is...)

I think he dealt really well with replying. I'd vote for him if I could.
