Political Counsel by Malaysian Eddy

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a letter to a government official (a Governor, a President) in which you describe and seek advice regarding a personal problem.

OR

Offer your advice to a government official with a public personal problem.

Dear Senator Feinstein,

I turn 28 in 3 days. I've often wondered how different my life would be if I hadn't lived it by the seat of my pants. (I love that expression...don't you?) I still wait tables and am currently working on my THIRD college degree. Sometimes, I find myself doubting where I am in life and the path I've chosen to take. It seems so silly that my life's ambition is to own my very own bar (in Mexico or Ireland....or Barcelona) while working as a nurse and continuing on with my wedding photography. Maybe absurd is a better word for my dreams. But I've always thought that I would be wasting myself, and how boring it would be, to only be doing one thing for the rest of my life.

You often hear stories of people who lead amazing lives, who have dared to try many things without worry of consequence. I feel that I embody that passion and lust for life that they appreciate, but am held back by so many bad habits. Even now, I know that I should be studying physiology but instead I'm writing to you. I couldn't tell you number of times I've tried to quit smoking. I am impulsive and like to socialize WAY too much. I guess you could say that I have no direction in life.

Already, I feel nostalgic for all my shenanigans and crazy antics and laugh at myself for being such an idiot. I have no regrets but am confident that I definitely wasn't using my brain during certain parts of my life. My question to you is - How do you know? How do you know that what you're doing in life is enough? How do you know when you're wasting your life by trying to fit it into the idea of being perfect? How do you know which dream is the better dream to follow? You, being a senator, have worked very hard to get to where you are today. Is this job something that you still have passion for or has it become just a paycheck for you? How did you know, out of all of your options, that this path was the one for you? I feel lost and could really use some advice.

Yours Truly,

Eddy M.

P.S. Could you please do something about the educational loans from private lenders? Even though I've never made a late payment, and have a co-signer, they refuse to lower my 14% intrest rate. I feel like I'm being raped financially and am fed up with my lack of rights in taking out student loans.
