After just a few hours on my first day at my new job a student came in and inquired if a co-worker I had not met yet still worked there. After a fellow employee confirmed he proceeded to calmly inform us that he saw her mangled bike near a big scene at an intersection just a few blocks away.

"Yeah, um, I am pretty sure she is clinging to life on the street corner. I could not see her face because it was covered with blood but I am pretty sure it was her."
