Drunk Squirrel in the Morning Blues. by K!
January 1st, 2008 12:13 AMSo, at 11 AM, I sat down at my keyboard to start writing 10 songs. I started with a C major chord and started singing. 15 minutes later, I had my first song!
Track One: The Prologue
I thought I'd try to write 10 songs in just one day
I quickly found it's harder to do than just to say
It's kind of daunting to think about those songs all in a queue
So instead, for now I'll focus on number two
One down. Nine to go.
It's now 6:30, and I have five songs completed. And my computer's internal speakers break. After a few minutes trying to figure out what the heck I did, I decide to press onward. The headphones still work, and I have a deadline.
8:07. Something is wrong with my computer. Maybe it's a virus or something. Garageband has been acting up. Hopefully I can finish this task, and hopefully this problem is nothing serious. Still two more songs to go.
8:52. Cycle of 10 is completed! Now I just have to upload the audio files, which my computer is not wanting to do. :sigh:
Okay, so while we're waiting for uploading, lyrics!
Track Two: Blue Waiting
Well, kid, the time has come to make up your mind
'Cause keepin' me hangin' on a string ain't very kind
It shouldn't be a hard choice, so please won't you choose?
At this point in our lives, baby, what've we got to lose?
I was hopin' that today you'd perhaps pick
Until then, the only thing touchin' my lips is cherry Chapstick (best rhyme ever, if I do say so myself!)
So stop with all this nonsense; just give me your hand
If you can't make a decision on me, you ain't no kind of man!
Track Four: Pitiful Guitar Playing
This is my guitar song. It's not very good. I apologize.
But unfortunately, I only really know two chords
So it'll just keep going on like this for a little while
But now this is kind of chorus
Because it's louder and more enthusiastic
I hope you like my strumming
And I'm very very sorry that the guitar is out of tune I really tried to tune it but it's kind of old
And this is my coda, the end!
Track Five: Why?
I wish it was me. Why isn't it me?
Why can't it be me you love? Why, why, why? (Can you see where I got the title?)
Why must I love you? Why, why, why?
Track Six: The Classical Conflict
This is how my teacher teaches me to sing
Keep the soft palate up and get the sound to ring
But sometimes I wish I could break into jazz
But classical, I guess, can have its own pizazz. (Sorry for those high notes...)
Track Seven: Realization
I was crying in a stairwell/ Trapped inside my personal hell
Did it show?/ And they all knew?
This trap was of my own design/ I sat there waiting for some kind of sign
Where to go?/ What to do?
Follow the music, follow your dream/ Follow it as crazy at it may seem
So count to eight; it's not too late/ But it may be if you wait
So don't waaaaaaaaaaaaaait! (etc.)
Track Ten: Epilogue:
This is the last song, not that I will write ever, but it's the last song in this cycle of ten.
I'd like to thank SF0 for inspiring me to do this task,
even though I will lose all the points from it tomorrow. (or at any rate, fairly soon...)
I'd like to thank anyone who listened to all ten.
I admire your tenacity and your stamina.
I hope it was worth your while, and oh by the way all my songs are copyrighted.
Who knows? They might be good for something someday.
So don't steal, don't steal, don't steal them please!
Don't steal, don't steal, don't steal them please!
Thank you. Goodbye.
((Update: my computer speakers miraculously work again. I will never understand technology...))

Wow. You have a really, really great voice.
*melts somewhat*
Wow, 10 is a lot of songs to make up in a day.
I started listening and got my comment ready as "Wow Blue waiting!", but I kept on listening and every song was fantastic so as a result I am not sure that Blue waiting is my favorite anymore.
Inside my head and Godsong are particularly tempting for stealing including in a movie.
Wow!
Someday I will muster enough discipline to truly learn to play guitar. I'm glad you liked the song though!
And to everyone else, you have boosted my self confidence in terms of my songwriting +10 at least. Thanks for kind comments and votes!
Jeez. And the task wasn't even, "write ten good songs in a day.
All are fun, but Interlude and Inside My Head are particularly engaging. Nice!
My favourites...
Godsong ROCKS!
Why ROCKS!
Love the ska in Classical Conflict...
Realization ROCKS!
Interlude ROCKS!
O, I give up, they ALL rock.
First task post-Glasnost (San Francisco time).
