Pants Observation Exercise by Dave Elfving

June 3rd, 2007 1:27 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Take a photo of a stranger's pants.

People on stilts generally wear very long pants.

This was taken with an antique Agfa box camera using the almost extinct 127 film format. It also represents one of the first times I tried to develop film on my own - hence the odd exposure. But it was a happy accident: the old camera and botched development lead to something I'm rather pleased with.

Maybe just another second of exposure would have made this a bit clearer, but it turned out nicely. Good job!

That's the thing about the box camera - there is no control over the exposure. I probably could have compensated a bit in the development though. At the time, I really didn't know what I was doing.
