The Great Burrito Exchange by Davor, TheMuse Sassalot

May 23rd, 2007 2:43 AM

INSTRUCTIONS:

Surprise a friend by giving them an amazing Burrito. Document why you picked that friend, why did they deserve That Burrito, and how the rest of the day was spent eating The Burrito (be sure you get one for yourself too!).

OR

Group up with some friends. Pick a nice day and a nice park (close to 24th and Mission maybe?). Have each person get an awesome Burrito. Exchange The Burritos at the park. Enjoy them together.

A Nifty Resource: Burritobot.com

Just before I left for Thailand, I was spending time with The Muse. I told her I was hungry and that I wanted to to take burritos to 2 of my friends I was meeting up with in Bangkok. So she drove me to the local burrito truck and I grabbed 6 burritos. 1 each for her and I right then and 4 more to take with me to Bangkok. That way I could eat a burrito with each of my friends, just in case I didn't see them at the same time (which turned out to be a good plan). She greatly enjoyed my burrito plan, we had a good giggle.

I was a bit nervous about how airport security would respond to 4 foil wrapped burritos in zip locks in a box in my luggage. They could have been exploding burritos after all. As it happens, nothing happened and my burritos were easily smuggled into Thailand

I got to Bangkok and put them in the fridge in my room and emailed my friends. I did see them separately at 1st, so it was good I brought 4, and I have to admit there was something really decadent about having a West Oakland Taco Truck Al Pastor Burrito with my friends in Bangkok. It put great smiles on their faces and we all had a good laugh while looking out over the massive construction site across from my hotel.

And so it receives a squishy vote.

(I wanted to bring many Al's Big Burgers with me from El Cerrito to Berlin, where meat is... strange.)
