Your Dear Friends by GYØ Daryl, GYØ Ben, Adam, Tøm

July 1st, 2007 11:25 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Convince a group of at least 10 strangers (excluding SF0 collaborators) to take a group photo with you. Document the methods used and post your photo.

After about 15 minutes of conversations and deliberations (mainly stalling because we were too scared to ask strangers to be in a photo), Adam came up with a genius idea to tell strangers that this group photo was for his A-Level Photography project.

We spotted the first candidates on a bench near a mini-golf course, two young ladies, and two toddlers. Ben approached the brunette, and asked her bluntly if she'd mind being in our group photo. She replied yes, and Ben had to make a decision whether the "yes" meant either: or "Yes, I'd like to be in your photo," or "Yes, I would mind being in your photo, so shoo".

Fortunately, the former was the truth, and so we had 4 out of 10 people to play along.

The next step was to find other recruits to play along - this was achieved by Adam very politely requesting to people to assist him in his wonderful "photography project".

After several failed attempts by Adam, and a couple by Ben, the outlook was grim.

Shortly after, however, another trio of people came along, and we had 7.

The brunette became impatient (we think), so she - very helpfully - began to recruit too, and managed to convince 5 burly-looking bikers to take part.

SQUEE! We had 12 people!

Daryl, taking the picture in front of the aforementioned mini-golf course, looked bemused, as various, *ahem* different *ahem* people gathered round for a snap.

Well. We think it was successful, anyway.

You guys should consider spreading out your submissions, even if you did them on the same day/weekend - it makes it easier to notice good, but less pyrotechnic completions like this.

It would be neat to send it to the children in about 10 years. "Hey, mom, how come we used to hang on with bikers and now I can´t get a tatoo? And who are all the other guys, anyway?"
