Flat Stanley's Rumspringa Break is to debauchery as barn raising is to electronic toilets. I had much more degrading and bizarre hopes for the trip to Kyoto but, as it is a cultural center and my host was a gentleman, they did not come to fruition. I seriously considered feeding Stanley to the koi but there were a lot of people about, including a man inexplicably lighting fireworks. Also, I'd hate to think of what I'd be reincarnated as for poisoning koi at a temple. Even without the fast cars and drugs one has to admit that it was a fairly serious break from Flat Stanley's usual haunts.
